As part of Earthlink's effort to promote environmental awareness, a team of dedicated volunteers gave up an afternoon of their time to be there with the spectators for the Singapore Youth Olympic Games 99 Day Countdown event at Scape. Their task? To get as many of the spectators to pen down their thoughts for the environment! Despite the mid-day heat, they still managed to pique the interest of quite a few visitors to pen down a thought or two about the environment. Amid the usual "Save the Earth" type of quotes, the volunteers were faced with quite a number of interesting and inspirational quotes. Take this comment from an Atos Origin for example that says "NO USE MAKE UP". While he meant to poke fun at a fellow colleague about her make up, it did have some degree of truth! Some cosmetic products make use of rather toxic chemicals which are both harmful to the user and the environment! Overall, it was an interesting experience for the volunteers as well as the participants. As Singapore gears up for the Youth Olympic Games in August 2010, the Earthlink volunteers are also, in their own way preparing some of their own events and publicity materials to welcome the visitors lodging at the Youth Olympic Village at NTU. Stay tuned for more news about Earthlink's work in SYOG 2010!
